Matt has wanted to bring the 60’s experience to the stage for quite a long time. Having grown up with AM radio and his older sister's record collection, he learned to play drums to a lot of the songs on Thee Mod Garage playlist. he has played with all of the members in the band in different musical projects over the years. Matt is a big fan of movies like Wild In The Streets, Help, Woodstock, Monterey Pop, Riot On Sunset Strip, The Trip, Gimmie Shelter, and Roger Corman’s Edgar Allen Poe movies. Also inspiring were TV shows like The TAMI Concert, The Monkees, Prisoner, Shindig, Ed Sullivan, Where The Action Is, and American Bandstand.
Matt says,"Through these visuals, I want to bring the 60’s to life with Thee Mod Garage as correctly as we can portray it".
Lee Ann Lovechild’s experience with music spans many years playing bass guitar
in Minneapolis bands. She enjoys bringing the sixties sounds of TMG to audiences
familiar with those groovy times, and also introducing the psychedelic and garage rock experience to those who are not yet familiar. She’s a Saggitarius who relishes the connection that live music fosters between the band and an audience.
“I like to bring to the audience the visceral joy and electrical rush of electric guitar— surfing the waves of energy and beats supporting great songs that grab your heart,” says Gerhard Vogel, guitarist and vocalist for Thee Mod Garage. “Engaging the listener in the world of Psychedelic and Garage Rock is a hands-on experience like no other.”
Gerhard (pronounced like “Gary Hard” without the ‘Y’) uses the vintage equipment necessary to recreate the hits of the 60s, along with a spirit of inclusive audience outreach and a healthy dose of humor. The connection between audience and performer is all-important to him, and many years of playing in live music bands has given him the training necessary to keep the show plugged-in to the “cosmic radiation” that ensures a good time for everyone.
